When to change your oil is an inexact science. It depends on driving patterns and driving conditions more than anything else. Most manufactures recommend an oil change every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. However, if you read the fine print, what most of us think as “Normal” driving is actually “Severe” driving. Short trips of less than 10 miles, and stop and go driving are considered severe, and it's what most of us do. Change your oil more often if you are a "Severe" driver. Regular oil changes for preventative maintenance helps insure against vehicle engine wear and will save you money in the long run.

Remember, it is normal for your vehicle’s engine to consume some oil during engine operation. Therefore, it is essential the engine oil level be checked regularly between services.
